Devon Barn Conversion

The designs for our Devon barn conversion were completed in 2022. Characteristically open, airy and full of natural light, this space required us to focus on modern simplicity, using a neutral palette, clean lines and warmth through natural wood finishes, in order to highlight the clients' bold pieces of art throughout.

As lovers of contemporary art, our clients were keen to showcase and make their collection a key focal point of the overall scheme. Artwork pieces were the starting point of all our design decisions and prompted the build of a double height joinery wall, displaying sculptures and books as well as artworks by Jen Wink Hays, Leanne Shapton and Tomm Hammick, whilst cleverly concealing the necessities of modern life (namely the TV). The art pieces likewise play a key role in softening and personalising the open plan format of the space, both visually and acoustically.
